Singaporean magician Jeremy Pei dies at age 41: 'A remarkable person who touched many lives in the magic scene'
Pei's death comes months after the birth of his second child.
Magician Jeremy Pei has died at the age of 41. He died on Sunday (Aug 18), about five months after the birth of his second child.
The first magician from Singapore to compete in the World Championships of Magic, Pei also served as the managing director of the production company Redefine Magic.
Pei had been battling brain cancer for over 10 years.
He was first diagnosed with brain cancer a few months after being involved in a road accident in 2012. In 2015, he underwent surgery to remove the tumour and was told afterwards that most of the tumour had shrunk or vanished.
According to his wife, Pei was in Indonesia in May to referee a magic competition. However, Pei's friends noticed that his speech and movements were not coordinated. As such, Pei was sent to the hospital when he returned home. In June, Pei's doctor told him that his cancer was terminal.
Gradually, he couldn't speak and needed a feeding tube.
In a tribute post, the Singapore Association of Magicians called Pei "a remarkable person who touched many lives in the magic scene".
Pei's funeral service and cremation will take place on Aug 22.
