This has turned into a bountiful year for Chinese actor Wang Yibo who is quickly becoming a hot favourite with top international fashion houses.

On Tuesday (Sep 10), the house of Jimmy Choo welcomed Wang as the house’s first male global brand ambassador.

Wang joins the ranks of fellow ambassadors Chinese singer-actor Victoria Song and (G)I-dle’s Mi-Yeon. He will front the brand’s 2024 fall ad campaign.

On his appointment, Jimmy Choo’s creative director Sandra Choi said: “He embodies the essence of the Jimmy Choo man, confident and daring, with an inspiring zest for life.”

This comes a day after Japanese denim label Evisu announced Wang’s role as global ambassador. Identifying him as a “true style icon”, the brand identifies with Wang’s “rebellious spirit” that resonates with Evisu’s style and energy.

In June, Wang was named fashion powerhouse Loewe’s global brand ambassador.

Creative director Jonathan Anderson said: “Not only has he achieved global recognition as a singer and dancer, he’s also exploring new territories including acting, motorcycle racing and fashion – we love this multifaceted approach to creativity and how much it resonated with Loewe’s own prismatic identity.”

On his role with Loewe, Wang remarked: “Anderson infuses the collections with so much humour from everyday life while drawing inspiration from the art world, which creates a unique visual language.”

And in March, Wang joined tennis players Novak Djokovic, Venus Williams and Arthur Fils as Lacoste’s global brand ambassador.

The 27-year-old made his first appearance as the face of the brand during Lacoste’s fall 2024 runway show in Paris when creative director Pelagia Kolotouros debuted her first collection for the brand.

Wang also serves as a brand ambassador for Chanel, Shu Uemura, Chinese sportswear Anta and Audi.

Wang started his career as a member of K-pop boy band Uniq and has gone on to become one of China’s most popular male stars with over 40 million followers on Weibo.
